Shirley Peganoff O'Brien is a seasoned faculty member at EKU.  Her work experience and expertise has primarily been in the area of autism, pediatrics, school-based practice, and advocacy for children and families. She has presented and published in these areas. Shirley has continuous service in the American Occupational Therapy Association,  state associations and other professional groups. When asked why she loves OT and teaching she stated "I enjoy engaging students in practical situations, applying knowledge about OT theory in practice. I collaborate for inter-professional learning opportunities with the Psychology Department and the Office of Student Accessibility incorporating knowledge of sensory processing to impact occupational engagement in community settings. I mentor students to present at professional meetings, which is a value of mine in professional socialization.
