A New Sensory Gym on Campus
EKU's Student Government Association has awarded the Student Occupational Therapy Association $2,124 to establish a sensory gym on campus. With the guidance of OT Faculty Member Dr. Leslie Hardman, a list of sensory equipment promoting skills such as self-calming and fine motor development was approved for funding. SOTA officers completed the application, obtained endorsement from an SGA senator, and President Lacey Russell presented the proposal to SGA on Tuesday, October 3rd. SOTA hopes to share this resource with students from other departments on campus interested in learning about sensory processing and how knowledge of our sensory systems can benefit us all.
