JOTE: The Journal of Occupational Therapy Education

Three professors from the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at Eastern Kentucky University are celebrating the birth of a new scholarly journal, the Journal of Occupational Therapy Education, or JOTE. Dr. Dana Howell, editor, Dr. Renee Causey-Upton, associate editor, and Dr. Cindy Hayden, associate editor, have worked many hours with EKU librarians Laura Edwards, Linda Sizemore, and Karen Gilbert to publish the journal via Encompass, which is EKU’s digital archive of scholarly work.

Dr. Hayden stated “about two years ago we saw a need for a journal devoted exclusively to occupational therapy education.”  With a University Fellows award from the President’s Research and Scholarship Fund, Dr. Howell, Dr. Hayden and Dr. Causey-Upton have worked diligently to launch the journal. The Journal of Occupational Therapy Education is an open access and peer-reviewed online journal that includes original research, theory, educational innovations, book reviews and new educational technology related to occupational science and occupational therapy education.

The first edition of the Journal of Occupational Therapy Education will be unveiled at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA on April 1, 2017. The launch of the journal will coincide with the Centennial celebration of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

The journal can be viewed at  TheJournal of Occupational Therapy Education will be on display during the University Presentation Showcase during Scholars Day, April 10, 2017 from 5-7 pm on the first floor of the EKU Library.
